Restaurants

If you are a tourist, student, or have just moved to Cuernavaca here are some Restaurants to help you get acquainted with this great town. I have been pleasantly surprised to find many outstanding restaurants in the area, especially all the great Italian restaurants.  We are going to add more restaurants, some reviews and menus etc in the future.

The restaurants listed are in no special order.  In a few weeks I will sort them by price.  But right now I am not sure of the pricing.  Some of them I have personally ate at.  Others were put on the list as they were highly recommended.  I went around to quite a few people and asked them for their favorite restaurants.  This list is the result.

 Reposado
Netzahualcoyotl no. 33  almost across the street from the Brady Museum
312-9575     It’s a fantastic setting for a drink before or after going someplace downtown.   Its very attractively decorated, landscaped etc.  They have a gourmet type menu.   Both of the owners speak English and they have English menus.  Open at 7 PM  Tuesday - Satureday  2 PM on Sunday.

 Thai Restaurant
Tepozteco 100 - phone 372 0575
Nice little outdoor restaurant behind Sam's Club.  Mid price

 Nacho's
New botonaro on Morelos Sur 140, 314-0010
Buy one large drink (100 pesos) and you get a very wide range of unlimited appetizers from soup to main course.  Good food, nice atmosphere.  Great place to try different Mexican foods.

 Vivaldi
Pericon no. 102 Near Plaza Cuernavaca.  318-0122.  Very nice restaurant mostly outdoor garden setting.  Has a bakery in front so naturally the desserts and breads are very good.  I think they have the best bread basket in Cuernavaca. Menu is very big, lots of German and Mexican dishes.  Fairly inexpensive most entries are between 35 and 65 pesos.  Salads are huge you will probably want to split one with someone else.

 Axitla
Ave Del Tepozteco (at the foot of the mountain), in Tepoztzlan  395-0519
Excellent food, great atmosphere, has both indoor and outdoor seating. Mid price range, servings are very large.  The quesadillas rellenos are excellent (get an assortment for an appetizer).  Large Menu with both Mexican and American Dishes. (closed on Monday and Tuesday)

 Vienes
de Tejada no 11-b  (2 blocks from the Zocalo)
A bit pricy for the atmosphere (greasy spoon type) but the food is very good, the deserts are the best in town.

B&B
This is a nice little restaurant.  It is owned by a catering company.  While hard to find the only opening onto the street is through the car port.  Very small sign.  But its unique in Cuernavaca.  Its only open for Lunch from 1 to 4 Mon-Friday. .  You get a choice from 3 appetizers, 3 entries, and 2 desserts, menu changes every day.  Price is 33 pesos. Early Dinners.
You have to remember that most Mexicans eat their main meal of the day in the late afternoon.  Usually between 2 and 4.  The following three restaurants are good examples of that.

Los Colorines

Open in the evenings but the food is no where near as good as in the afternoons.  I highly recommend their special plate with 3 different kinds of meat.
